care for my melt,
a melt jewelry piece is a timeless investment. taking good care of your jewelry will help maintain its splendor, shine, and longevity. below are some useful tips on how to care for and maintain your jewelry.
preserve the beauty, shine, and longevity of your jewelry.
simple ways to keep your jewelry at its best (and brightest) version:
- avoid exposure to chemicals or corrosive products, such as perfume or cosmetics.
- remove jewelry when bathing or swimming. avoid contact with chlorine, sand, or seawater.
- take off jewelry before engaging in sports or any physical activity to avoid exposure to impacts or sweat.
- do not wear your jewelry while sleeping to prevent accidental damage.
- store your jewelry in a clean, cool, and dry place. avoid extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
maintaining shine
all melt items have been treated with a technique that helps prevent loss of shine. nevertheless, it's important to consider the following to optimize their condition over time:
- your jewelry may lose shine when exposed to the outdoors for an extended period.
- loss of shine or tarnishing is a natural process that can be restored through cleaning.
- we strongly recommend removing any jewelry before sleeping, showering, or engaging in physical activity.
- exposure to certain chemicals or environments can compromise the integrity of your jewelry. this includes (but is not limited to): sweat, perfumes/colognes, cleaning products, chlorine, saltwater, silver polishes, etc.
cleaning your jewelry
important: gold-plated pieces require extra care. Intense rubbing may cause the plating to wear off, so it's important to do so gently to avoid plating wear.
- mix a little soap with lukewarm water and scrub the item with a soft toothbrush. Toothbrushes are ideal for cleaning jewelry with hard-to-reach corners. If dirt persists, repeat the same process in clean water. A specific silver polishing cloth is a great tool to make your jewelry shine again if it has become tarnished over time. However, this technique will not remove any scratches or dents the piece may have.
how to store your jewelry
your jewelry should always be stored away from any exposure to sunlight and away from warm places, ideally in a padded jewelry box or in a tarnish-resistant bag. They can also be stored in individual plastic bags (polyethylene) with airtight seals. Never use rubber containers, as they will cause accelerated tarnishing of the pieces and likely cause them to tarnish. Under no circumstances store your jewelry in a bathroom or humid places. Please note that melt boxes are not designed to keep items in perfect condition for extended periods, as they are not airtight containers, and color alteration may eventually appear with lack of use.
important note
melt does not guarantee that the gold plating of our models will last forever. Gold-plated pieces are, by default, more fragile and susceptible to color loss over time. The speed at which this color fades depends on multiple factors such as the use of chemicals on the skin, the level of body sweating, or even the same pH level of each person's skin. For this reason, it is especially important to take proper care of your gold-plated jewelry. We remind you that our jewelry is gold-plated with 18k gold, so we recommend special care with this type of pieces.
